Ozone is a potent oxidizing agent used for disinfection of drinking water. Ozone is the safest among all chemical disinfectants when used for bottled water disinfection. A commonly used water disinfectant is Chlorine. Soon, Ozone was listed in the National Organic Program, allowing packaged products to be labelled "Organic".

to this, Ozone was made mandatory by the "International Bottled Water Association" to use Ozone in the final stage of bottling. IBWA recommends that the RO permit water tank be dosed with 1.0 to 2.0 ppm of Ozone.
